Plot
Young and innocent Gelsomina leaves her impoverished family when her mother gives her to Zampanò, a brutal traveling strongman who moves from town to town performing his act. Gelsomina becomes his assistant, and together they begin an endless journey through the roads of post-war Italy.
Despite Zampanò's cruelty, Gelsomina desperately searches for meaning and a reason to remain beside him. Her encounter with the gentle and playful Fool leads her to wonder whether even the smallest person has a purpose in the world. Featuring Giulietta Masina's unforgettable performance and Nino Rota's haunting music, Federico Fellini's La Strada is a heartbreaking story of loneliness, love and the human need to belong.
