Kokoras

Argyris works as a doorman for the Municipality of Athens and shares a financially difficult life with his wife Popi, who is also a municipal employee. Their already strained family life is shaken when their son wins a place at one of the country's most prestigious private schools.

Although the opportunity is far beyond what the family can realistically afford, Argyris becomes convinced that he cannot stand in the way of his son's supposedly promising future. His determination to pursue a better life soon turns into an increasingly absurd struggle for social advancement, placing pressure on his marriage and everything he thought he understood about success.

Driven by sardonic humor, Kokoras is a bittersweet social comedy about the pursuit of the “Greek dream,” the illusions people build around themselves and the painful possibility that those illusions may sometimes be easier to live with than reality.
