Grave of the Fireflies

During the final months of the Second World War in Japan, teenage Seita and his young sister Setsuko are left to fend for themselves after a devastating air raid. As the world around them collapses, the siblings struggle to find food, shelter and security in each other.
Rather than focusing on soldiers and battles, Isao Takahata observes war through the everyday experiences of two children. Based on Akiyuki Nosaka's story, Grave of the Fireflies is an intimate and deeply moving examination of family, loss, survival and the human cost of war.
