Television news anchor Rebeca is reunited with her mother, Becky del Páramo, a famous singer returning to Madrid after years abroad. Their relationship is marked by abandonment, rivalry and Rebeca's enduring desire for her mother's affection and approval.

The reunion becomes even more complicated when it emerges that Rebeca's husband was once Becky's lover — and he is soon found murdered.
