The Tenant

Trelkovsky, a quiet and isolated man, rents an apartment in an old Paris building. He soon learns that the previous tenant attempted suicide by jumping from its window, while his strict and increasingly unsettling neighbors begin making his everyday existence unbearably oppressive.
As his isolation deepens, Trelkovsky becomes convinced that the residents are conspiring against him and attempting to transform him into the apartment's previous occupant. Reality and paranoia gradually become impossible to separate in Roman Polanski's claustrophobic psychological nightmare about identity, alienation and the disintegration of the self.
